Carissa Martin

Bio

Carissa graduated with their Bachelors in Psychology, Women and Gender Studies, and Religion from Central Michigan University in 2018 and with their Masters in Social Work from Michigan State University in 2022. As a therapist with a background in social justice activism, Carissa strives to empower her clients and use intersectional based advocacy to best address their needs. Carissa has developed niches in working with individuals with serious mental health concerns (mainly borderline personality disorder), 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, AuDHD individuals, and disabled individuals. Carissa is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and believes in making it more accessible as a treatment option. They also believe in an eclectic approach and using what works best for someone. As a neurodivergent and queer therapist who has struggled with finding accepting spaces, Carissa wants her clients to be able to come as they are in therapy, be fully embraced, and become the version of themselves they want to be.
