BECOME A FOSTER PARENT
Foster care can be provided by licensed foster parents, relatives, or trusted family friends. Every caregiver receives guidance from our team to help navigate the process and feel confident in providing care. Whether you’re already a caregiver or just exploring the idea, we’re here to support you.
There is always a need for caring adults to support children and youth in foster care. You can make a difference by becoming a foster parent, mentor, volunteer, or respite care provider. We welcome individuals and families from all backgrounds who are ready to offer encouragement, stability, and hope.
Sometimes families need extra help. When concerns are reported, child welfare professionals step in to assess the situation. If it’s determined that a child cannot safely stay at home, a judge may order temporary placement in foster care while the family receives support.
Foster parents provide a safe and nurturing home for children during times of uncertainty. They offer stability, care, and everyday experiences while supporting the child’s ongoing connection to their family. Foster parents ensure children get to school, attend medical appointments, participate in activities, and receive any additional support they need.
That’s a completely normal feeling—and you’re not alone. Our team understands how deeply foster families care, and we offer guidance and support from the very beginning. During orientation and training, we talk through what reunification can look like and connect you with experienced foster families who’ve been through it. Our goal is to help you feel prepared, supported, and connected every step of the way.
Yes! You’ll work with our team to determine the best fit for your home—considering things like age, gender, background, and needs. While some placements come up on short notice, you always have the choice to say yes or no. We’ll never place a child in your home without your agreement. Plus, we encourage all foster families to join support groups and build networks for shared child care and respite needs.
We’re so glad you’re asking! There’s no pressure or timeline to decide. You can start by attending an information session, setting up a one-on-one conversation, or even just sending us a quick email with your questions. Even if fostering isn’t the right fit for you right now, you can still help by sharing what you’ve learned with others—it might be just the encouragement someone else needs to open their home and heart.
